About

Ancient Wisdom for the Modern Woman

If you are seeking help with any problem related to hormones, fertility, digestion or skin, then you are in the right place.

I have been working with women and all things women’s health for 10 years. From teenage period pain to menopause and everything in between. I have worked with groups of women in postpartum classes, menstrual health workshops and fertility seminars and of course I have worked one to one with women that have placed their trust in me while travelling a difficult path.

What I consider to be one of the most important aspects of my approach to hormone health is that I don’t simply treat women; I educate them so that they can understand their bodies better, and I give them tools so that long term they can help themselves.

Over the years I have built up an extensive tool box of therapies and have gained much experience from the varied patients I have treated. My therapies include: Arvigo Maya Abdominal massage, reflexology and cranio-sacal therapy.  However, due to its effectiveness, Chinese Medicine is my main tool and I use both acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat clients.

Chinese Medicine is a holistic medicine meaning that it looks at all parts of the body and their interactions as opposed to just the part where the symptoms occur.

Chinese Medicine does not consider the mind and body to be separate; it does not make sense to think that one does not affect the other therefore both are treated at the same time.

The emotional element is considered just as important as the physical element. It is in fact, expected that any physical problem will be accompanied by and disruption to the emotions.  Irritability, frustration, tearfulness, sadness, fear and anxiety are all considered and used to diagnose a pattern.

In Western Medicine, disease must be measurable via a blood test or tissue sample.  If testing does not meet the required test parameters then a patient is thought to be healthy and there is no treatment. Chinese Medicine acknowledges that disease does not happen overnight and that the body will prompt us that something is going array some time before a medical test can pick up on a problem.

With this is mind, every symptom is taken into consideration regardless of how insignificant it may seem: cold hands and feet, waking up during the night, bloating, irritability,  all of these point towards a level of disharmony within the body. Acupuncture and/or herbal medicine seeks primarily to correct the root of the problem rather than to treat symptoms alone.  Acupuncture and herbs are designed to encourage this self-healing process

There is little to no risk with Chinese medicine.
