Dedicated to helping women help themselves

IVF Support

After a number of failed IVF cycles, I decided to try Maya massage with Maria before one last IVF attempt. I am delighted to say it was a success and I now have a beautiful and healthy baby boy.

From miscarriage to waiting list to natural conception

I felt so empowered that I was finally able to do something myself instead of relying on doctors and consultants – I also really enjoyed getting to see Maria, and know that she really was vested in my quest to get pregnant. After suffering a miscarriage my husband and I decided to talk to our GP a year later after trying unsuccessfully. He referred us on for tests, and to see a consultant – but fearing we were at the mercy of the system with no real control I was beginning to loose hope. I came across an article about The Infertility Network and realised they had meetings in Belfast, the support they offered was great; and their website was excellent.

We attended our first meeting which just so happened to be about alternative fertility therapies which can help conception, and those faced with IVF. The person speaking at the meeting was Maria Rafferty, focusing in on Maya Massage and acupuncture – instantly I felt comfortable with her, and knew straight away it was something I wanted to try – we had nothing to lose and a whole lot of gain.

I contacted Maria straight after the meeting and was able to get an appointment – this was Feb/March 2012. I had one session of Maya which was amazing and relaxing – not only was the massage itself wonderful, but all the other information I got was excellent too – Maria listened to my story and never once made me feel as though I was wasting her time, it was therapeutic just having someone listen to me. I left my first session geared up to continue the self care massage to the best of my ability.

I went back for another session after we had been informed our next consultant appointment had been moved from August to November. I felt this was the perfect opportunity to take my Maya massage seriously and use it to the best of my ability. I felt so empowered that I was finally able to do something myself instead of relying on doctors and consultants – I also really enjoyed getting to see Maria, and know that she really was vested in my quest to get pregnant.

Four months on from starting Maya properly I found out at was pregnant. I having been singing the praises of Maya, and Maria from the moment I started.

I changed my diet, started using a moon cup instead of tampons, taking really good, (not from the highstret), fertility vitamins and was doing self Maya massage twice a day – it was lovely having some time each day dedicated to just myself. The self care massage is easy to do and doesn’t impact on your day at all.

It is an amazing therapy and I am so thankful for the encouragement, strength and hope it gave me. I am convinced that without it my husband and I would have been sent down the IVF route unnecessarily – Maya gave us the knowledge that enabled us to have the best chance to conceive naturally.
